THE INN'S DETAILS

y passion for antiques, the true Southwest experience and an unbridled imagination has been behind the spirit of El Portal. This is why I built an adobe house complete with period furnishings… with details down to the doorknobs. The following are just some of the extra details we put into El Portal to make it a truly unique and special experience for all our guests.

The door is your first impression of a home. Each door in El Portal is designed to fit a particular period, with no two doors being the same. All the doors were handmade either by myself or by our staff of artisans.
In an old section of Los Angeles there is an 80-year-old company that specializes in antique door hardware. We picked out different hardware for each room that will be appropriate for the door style and time period.
So much is being handmade for the inn, from this craftsman who specializes in door bells, to one of the oldest tile companies still in existence, reproducing the El Portal rose in ceramic tile. The inn will also feature vintage tiles from my extensive collection.
