THE PEACE OF PERSONAL RENEWAL,
THE DRAMA OF NATURAL SPLENDOR,
THE PLEASURE OF LUXURY…
QUITE A COMBINATION

Sedona, AZ, The true spirit of Sedona is timeless. It connects generations past to those that follow. It does so in harmony with nature. From the drama of spectacular mountains, sky and earth to the serenity and intimate peacefulness of personal renewal. From the historic simple haciendas and hospitality of eras gone by to the ultimate comforts of the present.

This spirit of Sedona, this spirit of timelessness and natural wonders is the essence of El Portal, Sedona’s one-of-a-kind boutique hotel, grand award recipient of Andrew Harper’s Hideaway Report 2004 Hotel of the Year.

Attention to detail is the hallmark of El Portal. The 1910 adobe architecture and construction are historically accurate in detail down to the doorknobs - 100-year-old doorknobs. Built entirely of hand made mud bricks, its 18-inch thick walls offer complete privacy for guests. 200-year-old reclaimed wood utilized throughout enriches the imagination.

The interior design is accurate to the period 1900-1930. Twelve spacious suites are furnished with original Arts and Crafts, Art Deco and Art Nouveau designs from creative geniuses such as Frank Lloyd Wright, Stickley, Limbert, Roycroft and Mackintosh. Authentic period lighting and turn-of-the-century iron heating and air conditioning grates add to the authenticity of the period.

Suites may also feature an adobe corner fireplace with river rock stone, French doors, stencil designs, hand-painted detailing, stained glass, flagstone flooring, high-beamed ceilings of natural organic juniper or burl logs, rich tile detailing, arched windows and bathroom designs such as free-form granite counters, Jacuzzi tub, steam shower, and free standing claw foot tub.

Each suite has a private entrance and private patio or sitting terrace.

In blending historic design with the convenience and service required by today’s traveler, each suite offers featherweight cashmere blankets, 300-thread-count sheets, and premium down pillows and comforters to create the ultimate in restful comfort. Suites also include television, radio, DVD, internet (broadband cable) access and free local calls.

Specific needs will always be addressed. Suites include basic spa privileges at Los Abrigados Resort, next door to the inn. Pets are welcome.

Gourmet meals available at El Portal include daily breakfast and four-course dinners on weekends. There is never any rush. Dinner guests can linger at their table for the entire evening. Complimentary afternoon hors d’oeuvres and drinks are served daily.

Themed packages can be booked based on individual preference - adventure, romance, women’s 5-star luxury, Grand Canyon and gourmet. El Portal staff includes experienced, knowledgeable guides for jeep excursions, nature hikes and winery tours.

El Portal is located in the heart of Sedona, next to famed Tlaquepaque’s upscale restaurants, boutiques and art galleries.

In the past, in a spirit of giving, the wealthy landowner would open his beautiful home to the traveler. This spirit lives on at El Portal.
