El Portal Sedona Hotel ~ Fun Things to do in June!

There are a number of fun, interesting and worthwhile activities to do and take part in the next couple of weeks in Sedona.  This Sunday celebrate Father’s Day at Arts Abounds at Posse Grounds from 9am-3pm. You will find painters, photographers, musicians, poets and more at the community- friendly event.  The City of Sedona Parks and Recreation Department is providing an opportunity for emerging artists, hobbyists and local businesses to participate in Art Abounds at Posse Grounds.  It takes place on the grass multi-use field at Posse Grounds Park, 525 Posse Ground Road in Sedona, which is a beautiful venue for artists to showcase and sell their work. This is a free event, so come and enjoy the festivities and celebrate Dad!

If Dad is an animal lover, then this is for you…a benefit concert Sunday at 4pm, in the back yard at Studio Live, hosted by Sedona Performing Arts Alliance Member Dom Giazzon! Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 the day of the concert, and ALL proceeds from the concert benefit the Verde Valley Sanctuary and All About Animals Rescue. This will be outdoors, so please bring a blanket or chair; and beer and wine will be available for purchase.

Both events take place Sunday, June 17th.

For something a little different take in the Star Night Event, Saturday June 23rd at Dead Horse Ranch State Park. There are two special viewing events. Solar Viewing (3-6pm); where you safely view the sun through a special solar telescope, and Star Viewing (8pm); where you can view and enjoy evening star viewing through telescopes.

Astronomers volunteer their expertise and telescopes for guests to view an assortment of night sky attractions including galaxies, star clusters, nebulae and more. You will need to bring a folding chair, a red light (mini red LED flashlights will be available for a small donation; red light protects everyone’s night vision), sweater or jacket (temperatures drop quickly after the sun goes down), and enthusiasm to enjoy and conserve these beautiful night skies!

Entrance Fees $7 per vehicle (up to four adults). Online camping reservations are available (additional fee). To learn more about the park and reserve campsites visit AZStateParks.com/Parks/DEHO. This is sponsored by the Astronomers of Verde Valley.
