This weekend there a two very worthwhile causes that need your support in Sedona.

On Saturday, September 22 there is the 4th Annual Sedona Sunrise Center Golf Tournament at the Oak Creek Country Club in the Village of Oak Creek. Registration is at 7am, fees are $35 for members of the Oak Creek Country Club, and $100 for non members. Come out for 18 holes of fun golf, prizes, great food, and silent auction – all benefiting the Sedona Sunrise Center for Adults (the only adult day care center in the Verde Valley).

On Sunday, September 23rd Sedona and surrounding communities will be joining forces to help Baby Kinsley, a beautiful one year old baby girl, diagnosed with Mitochondrial Disease. The Heavenly J’s and the R.D. Olson Blues Band are headlining a benefit concert Sunday from 4:00pm-7:30pm at the Sedona Performing Arts Center (995 Upper Red Rock Loop Road), to raise funds to help save this adorable baby. Doors open 3:30pm. The Benefit Concert is co-sponsored by the Sedona Film Festival, Earl Weatherwax, Bill Lacy and Linda Goldenstein. Tickets for the concert are $10 and available at the Mary D. This disease affects 1 in 4000 children, and occurs when the mitochondria of the cell fail to produce enough energy for cell or organ function. The only known treatment is mega doses of vitamins costing $400 to $4000 per month which insurance does not cover. Kinsley has a feeding tube because she is too weak to eat on her own. Just as a note Kinsley’s dad is a police office here in Sedona.
