Here are some reviews from our guests on TripAdvisor.com. Read on to see what people think and feel about our boutique hotel; and remember El Portal is a pet friendly Sedona hotel!

“Feels like home…only better”

Everything about El Portal is built around comfort and a sense of “home”. From the Arts and Crafts antique furniture & styling to the juniper wood stocked fire pit burning in the courtyard, everything is comfortable. Not to mention the cookie jar in the main dining room! Never have I looked forward to just sitting around and relaxing in the hotel in which I was staying before (especially in a place where there is so much to do outdoors!). Connie & Steve treated us like we were family and made our stay a truly memorable family vacation. There is no doubt that we will return for another stay at El Portal. (CaddisFly09, November 2010)

“Just what we needed”

Can’t say enough about this beautiful, relaxing, unpretentious, place. There is something in the naturalness of the building itself; the clay walls, the metal work, the stained glass, the exposed wood, the gardens, and of course the red rock location, that just makes you forget the rest of the world, and breathe a sigh of relief. Not to mention the kindness of the staff and owners. One of the owners laid right down on the floor to bond with our “nervous nelly” of a boxer dog. It’s just that kind of place. Please do yourself a favor, even if it’s just for one night (that is all we could do), stay here. When you return to the real world you will relax just thinking about how nice it was, and it helps knowing there are places like this to escape to. (Pinkieinaz, March 2011)

“Beautiful Surroundings, Beautiful Room, Beautiful Inn”

Perhaps the prettiest place we’ve ever stayed, while at the same time being a warm and welcoming inn. Terry greeted us when we walked in the door and made us feel at home. The Green room had a wonderful balcony with a great view of the red rocks. The breakfasts were delicious. And I loved the tub with the jets and bubbles after a hard day of hiking. Pillows were too squishy our first night, but Terry diligently responded to our request for firmer pillows the second night, and we slept very well. Met some nice people and their dogs sitting around the fire pit in the courtyard. Only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer! (Pedalmom, March 2011)

“Captures the essence of Sedona with comfort, serenity and class.”

I don’t think we would stay anywhere else in Sedona. The Innkeeper made our trip a pleasant and stress-free experience, and the place itself has a magic about it. From the snack-packed nook off the main great room, to the softly crackiling alligator juniper wood in the outdoor fire pit, the unique and comfortable rooms and the genuine hospitality, it was terrific.
